Subject: Tacoma City Council Video Date: Tue, 06 Mar 2007 23:03:40 -0800 March 6, 2007 Public Comments regarding Stryker deployment though the Port of Tacoma (in-between other unrelated comments) Go to: http://www.ci.tacoma.wa.us/tvtacoma/tacoma/value.htm?vidID=ccm030607 Scroll down to: Citizen's Forum The cameras were turned off before the police pulled Wally away. Keep watching through the Musak and "recess" screen... what you're not seeing is Wally being surrounded, removed from the podium and dragged out by three to four policemen while he repeated over and over that he just wanted to finish what he had to say. It was upsetting, but those called to speak after Wally gathered their composure and continued with their comments, pointing out that the activists seem better trained at peace-keeping than our paid public defenders. Councilman Bill Evans refers to the comments as "disturbing" and remarks on how many military veterans had testified about the unnecessary force of the Tacoma police. Councilmen Lonergan and Talbert get the last word, unless you count the fellow who thanked the police in his comments and then mooned the activists in the parking lot after the meeting. HS
