From: TJ Johnson To: TJ Johnson Sent: Saturday, March 10, 2007 1:59 PM Subject: I need your support tomorrow (Sunday) I know you are opposed to the quagmire in Iraq. And I know you are outraged that Bush is escalating the conflict by sending over 30,000 more US troops into the middle of a hopeless civil war. Today, I am asking as a friend for your support. Tomorrow, Sunday March 11, a committed group of citizens from Olympia, Seattle, Port Townsend and Portland intend to engage in non-violent civil disobedience o prevent equipment from the 4th Stryker Brigade from being loaded at the Port of Tacoma on a ship bound for Iraq. This is the ultimate way to show support for the troops - prevent them from being placed in a position where they may kill or be killed. I intend to be part of this group who, in the spirit of Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr, and many, many others throughout history will engage in peaceful direct action to end our complicity in this immoral atrocity. I am asking you to be present at this action as an observer and witness. If you are willing to support us, please gather at the Federal Courthouse in downtown Tacoma at 2pm tomorrow, Sunday, March 11. The Courthouse is in the old Union Pacific Station on Pacific Ave, between the Tacoma Art Museum and the Washington State History Museum. Parking is available on the street, and is free on Sunday. From the Courthouse we will move as a group to the location of the action. Important Reminder: Daylight Savings time means the clock moves one hour ahead tonight. Don’t forget to Spring forward. The events in Tacoma are getting significant media attention nationally and internationally. People have had enough of this war, and are looking to what is happening in Tacoma this week as a sign of hope that the end is near. Please join us as we continue to send hope to a nation and world weary of violence. Please contact me or anyone below with any questions or concerns.
