another world is possible . . .

Is your old Olympia in need of some TLC? Finding Olympia typewriter parts is not difficult or expensive when you know where to look. Often times our old machines just need a few parts to bring them up to running smooth again. One common dilemma is that these parts can be expensive when buying from a typewriter dealer/repair shop, and that is if you can find one.

Why not consider buying an entire parts machine? Often times people selling old Olympia typewriters they've found in an attic or basement look bad to them, but in fact are simply in need of a cleaning and oiling to get them working. The seller has no interest in the machine and doesn't even think about fixing it, thus selling it for a low price!

Often the price for one of these entire machines is lower than the cost of a single part! The German made Olympia typewriters were built extremely well and even the saddest looking "junk models" people are selling have many usable parts!

There are several great places to find these once popular Olympia typewriters. If you like yard sales, this is a great resource during the summer. If you can find a rusted model it can usually be purchased real cheap. Tell the seller it's only good as a parts machine and you'll be surprised how much they might drop the price!

Craigslist is another decent place. What's nice about this online classifieds service is that you can type in and search for specific models. If you need an Olympia model 9, type that in. An SM1, SM3 etc, just search for the same model of yours. There's not likely going to be a jackpot of Olympias on CL, but there's always typewriters on there and chances are good you'll find at least one Olympia for sale in the course of a week. It's easy enough to check!

My favorite is eBay. This online auction site has a huge selection of antique & vintage machines. Great for finding the specific Olympia typewriter models you might need for parts. On any given day there's at least a few old Olympia's listed, with new ones added all the time. Whether you are in need of pieces from a Simplex, Splendid, Filia or any Olympia model, you have a good chance of finding one on eBay. Depending on what you need, it may take some patience as you might have to look for a few days to find your exact model. Once you have the machine you'll have all those extra parts for future use and that's a great thing since Olympia's are becoming harder to come by with each passing year.
