Local Forum To Save Social Security: Promoting Progressive Reform and Fiscal 
Reality

The Bush administration is coordinating a massive disinformation campaign
 to sell the privatization of Social Security. This campaign has organized millions 
of dollars from corporations, and groups like the Manufacturer’s Association of 
North America. The conservative think tanks, like the Heritage Foundation, the 
Hoover Foundation and the CATO Institute are participating in the media
campaign to sell the plan to privatize Social Security. These Foundations have 
also formed groups like SocialSecurityChoice.org and forourgrandchildren.org 
to mount aggressive grassroots campaigns. The defeat of this attack upon our 
security will require a huge grassroots mobilization across all walks of life. This 
forum will inform us and offer each of us the tools to talk simply, but not
simplistically, about Social Security in our regular conversations with family, 
friends, associates and neighbors. This forum will prepare us to participate in 
defeating Social Security privatization. There will be ample time for discussion 
about Social Security and ways to get involved in a campaign to stop this raid 
upon social security, and to work for a just social security system.
